SDA UNION WIN: Woolies commits to recognition payment

The SDA has been working hard to push for an essential service payment for frontline workers who continue to work during this pandemic.

In good news today, Woolworths has announced its commitment to make a recognition payment to employees. It’s the right thing to do and the SDA welcomes Woolworths decision.

This is a huge development in our push for you to be recognised for your hard work to keep the country running during these challenging times for the Australian community.

Over the coming weeks the SDA will be engaging Woolworths as the size, the form, eligibility and timing of the recognition payment is finalised. Whilst the specific details are still to be worked through the SDA welcomes this public commitment by Woolworths to recognise the enormous efforts of their staff during this challenging period.

Thousands of SDA members at Woolworths signed our petition for a $5 per hour essential service payment.

Thank you for supporting our efforts and standing together to push for this recognition – it has made a difference.

We will continue to keep you updated with further information.
